What to Do Boulder in Spring 2023

With the arrival of March, we’re finally coming out of the winter months.

Whether you’ve had to cope with symptoms of SAD during January and February or you’ve just been feeling a little cooped up, this is great news.

It’s also the perfect time to start adding local events to your spring calendar! Like most other things in Colorado, Boulder really comes alive in the springtime.

With that being said, here are 4 ways you can get out and about in Boulder this spring.

Get Outside in Boulder This Spring

Let’s face it. As great as Colorado winters can be, they can also come with a heavy dose of cabin fever by the time springtime rolls around.

Fortunately, Boulder has endless options for getting outside and getting some much-needed sunshine and fresh air!

You can take advantage of the miles and miles of local hiking trails. Check out Chautauqua Park for an easy outing that will stretch those winter legs, or try hiking the Flatirons or Royal Arch for a little more of a challenge.

If you want something more structured, check out the options for e-bike tours around the area. Multiple local businesses offer both guided and unguided tours of Boulder.

If you’re really wanting to move your body, sign up for the annual BolderBoulder 10K race happening May 29, 2023! Runner’s World Magazine recognized it as “America’s All-Time Best 10K” and it welcomes people of all abilities and fitness levels.

Enjoy Boulder’s Culture

If there’s one thing Boulder does well, it’s culture, and at no time is this more apparent than in the spring.

With numerous festivals, plays, philharmonics, and other events happening almost every weekend, you’re sure to find something that will suit your interests (or broaden your horizons!).

For instance, the Tulip Fairy and Elf Festival occurs on April 23rd this year and it’s basically the springtime version of Halloween, complete with costumes, activities for kids, and a parade of fairies and elves around Pearl Street Mall!

If you’re into something a little more refined, check out the event calendar for the Boulder Philharmonic or support the countless student productions at the University of Colorado, Boulder featuring dance, theatre, and art.

Support Local Artists

Did you know that Boulder, CO has the nation’s third-highest concentration of artists? That’s why we’re giving the arts its own section in our list.

Boulder is practically bursting with art galleries and regularly scheduled art walks, both featuring local and traveling artists from around the nation.

You can also check out two of the biggest art festivals in the area: the Boulder Arts Week and the Boulder Creek Festival.

The Boulder Arts Week takes place April 7-15 in 2023 and it’s dedicated to showcasing an inclusive array of art, from murals and installations to music and dance. You can also take some time to expand your mind with lectures and workshops.

The Boulder Creek Festival happens May 26-29 this year and includes shopping, food, events for kids, local beers, and an art battle!

Take Advantage of Learning Opportunities

Being a university town, there is an abundance of opportunities to grow and learn in Boulder.

One of our favorite events is Boulder’s Start-Up Week.

Happening May 15-19, 2023, it’s described as the “premier free week-long conference” for entrepreneurs and small business owners, and it features over 200 events curated and hosted by industry experts.

It’s a fantastic opportunity for entrepreneurs to learn something new or to take advantage of networking opportunities.
